Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a one-of-a-kind national program aimed at providing positive male role models at over 4,700 schools across the country. The program is open to fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles and any other adult father figures. These D.O.G.S. are asked to volunteer at least one full school day a year.
During their volunteer day, the D.O.G.S. are in the students’ classrooms, patrolling the school, and being a presence on the playground. It is one of the best days of the year for these awesome father figures and the students! They are able to get a glimpse into the everyday happenings of the school while being a positive male role model for the whole student body.
We love our school! In addition to our many other programs, we also use PTA funds to beautify and improve our school. Past projects include the addition of an electronic marquee and installation of water bottle re-fill stations. Ongoing projects include: bulletin board maintenance, purchase of recess and PE equipment, classroom supplies, and reimbursement of teacher expenses.
Another favorite beautification project at Oso Grande is our annual Spring Spruce-up. We receive generous donations of mulch and supplies, and parent volunteers work alongside their children to weed, plant, mulch, and clean our campus. It is always a rewarding and worthwhile effort!
We are always focused on ways to keep our kids safe at school. We have a safety committee in place to research and explore new and improved safety efforts. One of our most recent purchases was additional AED units to be placed around the school, giving the school access to life-saving emergency treatment. Read more about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
